Here's the scenario:
You are cruising along on the web with your hot PC and suddenly the monitor goes blank. You adjust the monitor and check the power. The fan is running and the system "seems" to be on. But you get nothing on the screen. You cycle power, hear an ominous beep, but nothing happens. The system is dead.
So, you send the system in for service at a local dealer. $150 and two weeks later you get the system back. A memory module went bad, the "computer guy" says. 75 bucks for the module and another 75 for troubleshooting the problem and replacing the memory. But what the heck, money was made to be spent and at least you have your system back. No big deal.
Or is it a big deal? Was memory REALLY the problem? Or was it something much simpler and cheaper that YOU could have fixed if you had only known what was wrong? Did you just become the latest victim of the "computer guy"?
If you had only had MiniPOST, you could have found the problem and fixed it yourself. You see, MiniPOST is a Power-On Self-Test card that shows you what is wrong with systems that seem dead and just won't boot. All you do is remove the cover from your system, plug MiniPOST into an ISA slot in your PC, switch on power, and look at the digital display. You look up any failure code in the test code list, and you identify the cause of the problem in just a few seconds.
Suppose the code showed that the memory test failed. You look in the system and see only one memory module. Therefore, THAT module is probably bad. Are you aware that most memory modules are guaranteed for LIFE? That means if it goes bad, you can (in such a case) return it to the supplier for a FREE replacement. Replacing a memory module is usually very simple. You snap the old one out and snap the new on in. You replace the cover and switch on power. The system comes up fine.
What did it cost? Well, it took some time to open and close the case, to snap the bad module out and the new module in, and to run to your supplier and back. In many cases, you could do that in a couple of hours. There was no parts cost in this case.
Compare that with spending $150 or more for just one service call. Which do you prefer? What conclusion can you come to from this situation? What kind of tool do you think the computer guy uses to find problems with dead PCs? Do you think it might be better to own your OWN MiniPOST card?
It is true that some troubleshooting tasks are very complex, and for those you need the computer guy. Furthermore, just because you know what the problem is, does not mean you want to fix the computer yourself. But at least with your own MiniPOST card, you can keep the computer guy "honest". Furthermore, the computer guy will probably appreciate your telling him what you did and what you discovered, because it will help him get his job done faster, and help you to get your computer back quicker.
Beside that, the cost of the MiniPOST is less than a typical service call for your computer. Given the likelihood that you will have more than one serious hardware failure in your computers over the years, you will probably use your MiniPOST over and over and over, and it will pay for itself time and time again. And, you will be able to help friends and family members too, just like a professional technician. So, it just makes good sense to have your own MiniPOST card, doesn't it?
You'll save money wasted on support calls, and your family, friends, associates, and customers will love your service. Plus, you can select from a variety of our bundled diagnostic software to include with your systems and service: self-booting versions for UNIX and OS/2, DOS versions with built-in remote communication that lets you do customer training or preventative maintenance on customer PCs without leaving your office! Your success is built-in because your support will outshine the competition! You'll be in the elite group of top service providers who REALLY care about customers!

The latest version MiniPOST is now burnout-proof. That's right! If you accidentally plug it in backwards and switch on power, it won't blow up. That means you get worry-free operation, especially when your motherboard is out of the case and it's hard to tell which way the adapter cards are oriented.
