YOU MUST MAKE THE DISKETTES BOOTABLE BEFORE USE!
(remember to write protect the disk after making it bootable to prevent virus infections)
After transferring Drive Master files to the diskette (either the master or the client diskette), you must use the DOS "SYS" command to make the disk bootable. You will not need any memory managers (such as HIMEM.SYS), as Drive Master contains its own memory manager. You must use one of the following operating systems to 'SYS' the disk if you want to analyze or repair a drive that has a
FAT32 file structure on it:Windows 95 (OSR2 release with support for FAT32) - DOS 7.01
Windows 98 (any version) - DOS 7.1+
DOS 5.0
DOS 6.22
DOS 7.0 (Windows 95)
DOS 7.1 (Windows 98)
How to write system files to a diskette:
From the DOS promptC:\> CD WINDOWS\COMMAND
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND>SYS A:
This example assumes that C is the drive that contains WIN98 and A: is your floppy. For further information on how to access the MSDOS command line, see your Win98 help files or manual.
From Windows98 EXPLORER:Right click on the FLOPPY A icon. You will see the option "FORMAT"
Under Format Type choose
"Copy system files only"
BE careful NOT to FORMAT the diskette by accident!
IntroductionThe sophistication of file systems over the past ten years has grown enormously. Though several factors enter into this evolution a common thread can be found.
The demand for more speed, space, and flexibility has brought us to the pinnacle of file system design. With this fact in mind it follows that, although robust, these file systems have become increasingly more painful to recover critical data from.
Through the dynamicity alone of several new file systems we find it very difficult to 'recover' data from a seemingly destroyed or crippled file structure.
Drive Master 2000 offers an alternative to the standard {...fdisk, format, install, restore backup...} scenario.
With just a few keystrokes Drive Master 2000 can get a client back up and running in a minimal amount of time. It will allow a very harried technician to do some of the more critical work rather than the tedium of a client who just discovered 'fdisk'. It gives the technician something they all desperately need. Time.
Drive Master 2000 engulfs all the latest technology in an easy to use format. It also allows for the greatest level of flexibility while still maintaining a high degree of critical data safety.
Drive Master 2000 is truly the technician's genie in a bottle!
