- What IS Burn-In Testing? - PC Clinic lets you perform professional stress testing of your computers before you ship them to customers. - Full-Scope System Testing - PC Clinic is a robust DOS-based system test program contains over 400 individual tests that exercise the entire system (including multimedia) in single or multiple passes and report failures to the screen, printer, and on-disk test log.
- Full and Summary Test Log - The test log can contain just a summary of many hours of testing, or the complete test results for each pass. You can log to the printer or a file. The log can be added to or rewritten. After testing is done, you may add any configuration or benchmark information to the log manually by invoking the configuration function and pressing F10. This allows you to have a record of what was in the system and how well it functioned so you can properly support your customer if he complains later of a system problem. - Unattended Multiple Batch File Control - You can create as many batch test files as you like - one for each kind of system configuration. In the batch test list, you specify which tests you want to run, how many passes or how much time for each test, and how many passes or how much time for ALL the tests. You can save the batch file with a logical sounding name, and invoke it from the command line so PC Clinic immediately starts running the batch of tests when you boot it.
- Switch To and From DOS - PC Clinic lets you make it return to DOS automatically when a batch test is complete. Thus you can set up AUTOEXEC.BAT to execute several different batch files and return for the purpose of running third-party applications such as switching the workbench power supply on and off or adjusting test room temperature. PC Clinic thereby allows you to do full life-cycle simulation through environmental control to seriously stress the system.
- Fabulous Failure Alerts - When you are running batch mode burn-in tests and a failure occurs, PC Clinic can display a large RED FAIL message on the screen. PLUS, it can flash the floppy drive access light on and off rapidly to alert you just in case you test systems with no display attached. Thus, you don't have to GUESS if a failure occurred. You can see the faiure alerts all the way across the factory floor.
- Factory Network Operation - PC Clinic runs natively in a factory test network and logs all failures to common or separate log files on the server OR on the local drive. Furthermore, it comes with the ability to capture configuration information to the test log so you can save it for future reference when the customer calls and complains of a configuration conflict (after trying to upgrade the system himself). You are even able to use PC Clinic Professional on the server to control the tests.
- Preventive Maintenance RECOVERY Built-In
- PC Clinic allows you to save the CMOS RAM contents and the Master and Logical drive Boot Records from the hard drive(s) to separate files on an emergency recovery diskette for the customer. This way you can provide the customer with a method of recovering from virus infection or other boot record or CMOS RAM corruption without requiring an expensive service call.
